Summer Reading Kickoff Party
What a fun day we had kicking off our Summer Reading Program. We registered more that 130 friends and had a great time! This year we featured a Story Walk. We walked through the beautiful Strafford Park and read the story, From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. We did activities at each stop. At the end we enjoyed making fun corner bookmarks.

Guessing Jar: Marbles
Each week during Summer Reading we will have a new Guessing Jar Item. The first week was a big jar of marbles. How many?? The grand total is 280.
We had 199 friends who guessed anywhere from 1 to 1,000,000,000 marbles. We did have one winner. Her name is Kate and she guessed 267. She wins all 280 marbles.
Stop by the Children’s Depratment this week to guess how many Scrabble tiles are in our jar. We will announce winners on Mondays.

How many crayons are in the jar? Matt A. guessed closest without going over 236 crayons. (There were 246) Great job Matt, you win the entire jar of crayons. Happy coloring! You still have challenges left so make sure you stop by the children’s department to submit your guess. This week’s guessing jar contains LEGOS. Yes, you win the LEGOS!!! Good Luck.
Guessing Jar: Shells

Superhero Party
Today we celebrated superheroes in many ways. We talked about people we think of as heroes in our lives and in books. We made superhero masks, decorated a community hero sticker sheet, saved Superman from kryptonite and enjoyed a story .

Flex your counting and estimating skills by taking your chance at our weekly guessing jar. Whoever comes closest to the total without going over wins the contents of the jar.
You may guess once per day. We will choose winners on Monday mornings and put out the new items. We will announce the winner here on our blog and on our Tredyffrin Public Library Children’s Facebook Page (first names only). Each winner will be contacted individually so remember to use your best writing skills so we can read your name and contact information.
